A Licence to Teach our Method of Relaxation and Stress Management

With our training and licence you’ll be able to teach people how to relax properly and manage their own stress levels. We also give you lots of help setting up your own RFL teaching business, delivering our method to small groups and you'll have a presence on our website and be able to chat to other teachers and download all your teaching and promotional material free.

What's involved?

As soon as you’ve paid and reserved your place on one of our training courses we send you the pre-course work you need to complete before the training weekend. This consists of basic physiology and the relaxation method extracted from Laura Mitchell’s book Simple Relaxation as well as some written work to demonstrate a good understanding of what you have read. This process normally takes 2 – 3 weeks part time and you will be briefly examined on it at the beginning of the weekend.

This is followed by a full weekend of practical training and assessment in either London (West End venue), Leeds or Cardiff (dates to be published shortly).

The Contract

If you complete the course successfully we will send you a contract to sign, setting out the terms of engagement between us. Here is a summary of what each of us undertakes:

You agree

  • To deliver classes solely in accordance with the RFL Method of teaching as set out in the Schedule.
  • To only deliver such classes to groups of 2 or more people.
  • To charge a minimum fee as set by us per person per class.
  • To pay us a commission of 15% on the earnings derived from your RFL teaching.
  • To obtain and maintain at all times all necessary insurance cover.

We agree

  • To grant you a 12 month non-exclusive licence to teach the RFL method, renewable every 12 months
  • To allow you to use our brand name on marketing materials and course literature
  • To use our best endeavours to source insurance cover for you, subject to you paying for it
  • To provide marketing and teaching support to you at no cost to you.

Once you have signed the contract you will be granted a Licence to teach Relaxation and Stress Management for the Institute for the next 12 months.

What can I teach?

You will then be licensed to teach our 4-lesson course to groups of 4 - 8 people. This is what the classes cover:

  • Coping with negative thoughts
  • Posture, muscle and breathing exercises to relieve tension and anxiety
  • How the mind’s perception of events may influence the body’s response
  • Lifestyle examination.

What can I earn?

If you run just 1 class a week with 8 clients, each paying, say, £15 for the class, you would expect to earn £120 less our 15% and any overheads. Therefore you can realistically expect to earn around £85 for a one and a half hour class.

What does it cost?

The cost is £595. This includes the pre-course learning process, the training weekend, the first year’s licence fee, a full range of marketing and promotional materials, a presence on the RFL website and ongoing personal support and supervision while starting up classes.
